Focus Group
In my
focus group, I got a few of my target audience at college to take part and
evaluate what they like and dislike in the media that I have created. For
example, they firstly looked at my front cover and stated what they liked,
disliked and what they think I should do to improve it. They then did the same
with my contents age and my double page spread. I used students from the age of
16 years old to 19 years old because that is my target audience. I used 4 boys
and 3 girls to make sure I got a fair and varied opinion and who enjoy music
genre in my magazine. The concept of the focus group was to present our
product and receive critical as well as positive feedback in order to help us
improve our idea's and concepts further and this is exactly what I got from
creating a focus group. Firstly, on my front cover looked, I was told it
looked sophisticated and had an interesting look to it, this is probably
because it had some unconventional elements on it. I was also told that someone
didn't like the amount of colours I used on my front cover but I was told
before that my front cover looked quite flat and that it needed more colours so
I will not change that. Then, when commenting on my contents page, my focus
group really liked my unconventional placing of the cover lines but I was told
I could make them neater which I will try to do. Finally on my double page
spread, my focus group really liked how I had done an introduction on 'Georgia
Stubbs' and how I had highlighted it to make it stand out, they loved the
different picture and that they were all black and white and kept to the colour
scheme in the interview part of the double page spread.
Hot Desking Feedback
What can I do to
improve?
Keep the amount of fonts you use to a minimum
On the
Contents page, the two box-shaped pictures need to either move right or another
needs to be added.
Some more
images to be added for the content page.
try blending your puff into your background so it doesn’t look so alien. Also move the “Georgia stubbs…” so it’s not on top of the model’s arm.

Add more
images to the contents page.
Use sans
serif fonts
Are they inviting?
Yes the minimal use of colour but still keeping it bright
makes it interesting to read
Yes, I like
the images that have been taken and the colour scheme.
Yes, I like
the colour scheme that has been used and the house style.
Love the use of colour on the front page as it emphasises the words you need to see.

Yes, I think
the black and white works well; it makes the red stand out more.
yes
Do they catch your
attention?
Yes the bright colours make it very eye catching
The red is an
eye catcher but the font on the contents is quite normal compared to the rest
of the magazine.
yes
Yes, the
bright colours that are featured in the magazine stand out more because of the
dark colours that are used.
Yes! ^.^
perhaps try to lighten the background a little.
Yesss.
What parts are
better than others?
I like the pictures you have used on your contents page but
it still looks a little bare
I love the
contents flowing with the shape of the model, maybe you could try this for the
front cover too?
The front
cover, is better than the content page.
The contents page looks more professional. (try editing the photo of molly though so it blends with the page)

I like how
you have shaped the writing on the contents page to the shape of the model. It
very effective.
The contents
page pictures are a bit pixely
